SARA, OLIVER, & ROBERT set sail on the queen's gambit. The trip ends in disaster due to the undertaking ( a plan by tempest to keep the city prosperous & get rid of crime in the glades ), leading to robert's death & the seperation of sara & oliver.SHE ENDS UP STRANDED in the east china sea & is later rescued by a ship named THE AMAZO. onboard, she meets a man, anthony ivo, who claimed he could save humanity. seeing no other option, she joined him in his search for mirakuru - a serum developed by the japanese during WWII that could boost muscle strength, enhance senses, & regenerate cells.

OVER THE NEXT YEAR, ivo protected sara from his ship's crew while teaching her biology, chemistry, & technology. in return, she helped with his experiments & tortured captives, driven by the fear of becoming his next victim. she reunited with oliver only after ivo’s men captured him & saved his life by suggesting they use him to find the gravesite where the hōzen with the coordinates to the submarine that had the mirakuru was supposedly located. upon reaching the gravesite, ivo's guards briefly interrogated oliver about the hōzen before shado & slade ambushed them, demanding his release. when ivo complied, oliver punched him & escaped with sara.LATER THAT DAY shado revealed she had the hōzen prompting the four of them to find it, with ivo & his crew in pursuit. after they located the submarine, oliver injected slade with the serum despite sara's warning that he MIGHT NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT A SEDATIVE. slade reacted badly & then fell quiet leading the others to believe he had died. before they could mourn, ivo & his men captured them. In a fit of rage, ivo forces oliver to choose between sacrificing sara or shado. when he hesitated, ivo threatened to kill them both.

WITH IVO'S GUN pointed at sara, oliver intervened, which ivo took as a choice & SHOT SHADO IN THE HEAD. slade, alive & fueled by mirakuru, found her body & killed ivo's men, taking the remaining mirakuru as they fled. when he demanded to know who killed shado, sara swiftly jumped in & lied, saying she was shot without reason.THE NEXT MORNING, they prepared for battle. oliver allowed himself to be captured while sara & slade watched from a high point on the island. as ivo's men cleared the deck, they jumped down with makeshift parachutes & freed all remaining prisoners. realizing they were rapidly losing, sara & a few captives jumped ship & swam to shore. OLIVER WAS CAPTURED BY SLADE at the last minute & held aboard as revenge for shado's death.SHORTLY AFTER, slade contacted sara & offered to trade oliver for the engineer, hendrick, because the ship was broken. they planned to use the exchange to kill slade, with anatoly hiding explosives on hendrick.ADMIST THE CHAOS OF THE NEXT ATTACK, anatoly launched a torpedo at the amazo, causing it to flood. slade reached in a last ditch effort to grab the mirakuru, but was too late & decidedly threw sara into the hole blown into the ship. she miraculously SURVIVED the sinking of the amazo & made it to the island’s shore, believing both oliver & slade to be dead when she couldn’t find them.

OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, she aimlessly wandered lian yu, exhausted, hungry, & losing the will to survive. NYSSA AL GHUL found her, took care of her, & offered her shelter with the league of assassins ( a secret group of highly trained killers who hunt down & eliminate people considered threats to society & the world ).SHE SPENDS THE NEXT THREE YEARS in the league's bunker, a vast underground complex hidden in NANDA PARBAT. during this time, she served ra's, fell in love with nyssa, & deliberately distanced herself from her family in starling ( even after oliver's return & the hood's arrival ).

AFTER THE UNDERTAKING, sara left the league to visit her family, finding herself unable to leave once she was there. embracing her new role, she became the vigilante known as THE CANARY, primarily targeting anyone who preyed on women. her identity & the safety of her family was compromised when oliver ( dressed as the green arrow ) unmasks & eventually convinces her to come home. sara only reveals her past with the league & the threat of their pursuit after an attack from one of it's members. in order to draw their attention away from her friends & family, she leaves starling & makes everyone, including her father, promise to keep her existence a secret.MONTHS LATER, oliver calls her to help with laurel's downward spiral. she makes it home in time to see laurel collapse, calling to have her rushed to the hospital. despite this, she considers leaving again.

LATER THAT EVENING she ran into nyssa, who begged her to go back to the league. after a bit of back & forth, sara made it clear she SHE COULDN'T GO BACK TO HER OLD LIFE & told nyssa to do what she had to. the next time she saw her was when her & oliver went to confront her about poisoning laurel. instead of having the upper hand they find she'd abducted her mom, giving her 24 hours to rejoin the league or live without her mom. she ultimately decided to surrender, poisoning herself with tibetan pit viper venom as the means to her end. after being saved by oliver, she again asked nyssa to release her, succeeding only because she chose DEATH.IN MAY, she returned to nanda parbat to ask for the league's help in taking down slade. after gaining their commitment, they returned to starling to help the team bring down the army of mirakuru soldiers. afterward, she left home, looking to travel & restore the pieces of her soul she'd lost.IN OCTOBER she met up with laurel, pleading with her not to tell their dad she was home. after a quick chat, laurel left, leaving sara alone on a rooftop where a hooded figure confronted her. before she could react, three arrows struck her in the chest & she fell from the roof, DYING FROM HER INJURIES upon impact with the ground below.
